Cedar Creek Lake is a good lake. It is long and wide. The water is clear. The sun shines on it in the morning. In the evening, the wind moves across it and the light is soft. You can take a boat out or fish from the shore. You can swim. You can sit still and listen to the birds.

It is the fourth largest lake in Texas. That is a fact. It has 320 miles of shoreline. It is 18 miles long. At its widest, it is 8.5 miles across. There is room for everyone.

The fishing is good. White bass and hybrid striped bass are strong fighters. You feel it when they take the line. Largemouth bass are clever. Catfish are slow and deep. Crappie come up in the spring. The state says it is an excellent place to fish. They are right.

There are towns. They are small towns. Seven Points. Kemp. Gun Barrel City. Mabank. Tool. They have diners. Shops. People who wave when you drive by. Sometimes they have festivals. They are simple and good.

In the winter, there are lights. They put them up in Tom Finley Park. They call it Christmas Island. The lights reflect on the water. It is quiet and beautiful.
